Purdue Starting Linebacker Dwayne Beckford Suspended Indefinitely

Dwyane Beckford was supposed to be the starting middle linebacker for the Purdue Boilermakers this year.  He has had troubles with the law but was doing things to get back on the straight and narrow.  Too bad he went and got arrested again.  I doubt we see him back.

As a Purdue fan, I am beyond furious right now.  Danny Hope has been questioned for letting guys come back after incidents but Beckford looked like he had turned a corner.  Instead, he gets arrested six days before the first game.  Talk about putting yourself ahead of your team.

Purdue will have to scramble, since there is not a lot of super experienced depth at middle backer.  They have plenty of options and they will have a baptism by fire on Saturday.  It will be sink or swim and hopefully the man that starts can swim right away.

Like I said, I doubt Dwayne Beckford comes back and plays at Purdue at all.  He has pushed the line too many times and has lost each time.  If a coach lets you back on after an arrest and you do it again, take your stuff and get out.  You are not a good representative of your team or your fan base.

Purdue could be a dark horse team this year but this move certainly hurts.  A senior leader suspended right before the first game?  Just the life of a Purdue fan, I suppose.
