The Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns football program is far from a national power. In fact, they aren’t even a regional power– and more often than not, they are the butt of jokes in their part of the gridiron world.
Regardless, Cajuns fans are a virulent, fiery and vocal bunch, so it makes sense they would have their own branded, well, something.
Lafayette area Sonic restaurants decided it might as well be a burger.
Well, OK then.
The Ragin’ Cajun burger, clocking in at a staggering 1,200 calories, has the school’s logo food colored directly into the bun (as pictured below):
Food coloring molded directly into a bun? Nope, I’ll pass.
In LaLa’s defense, however, I sincerely doubt that Gatorade, a microbrewery or a a sausage company (see the LSU Tigers) was knocking down their door, so I suppose you have to take what you can get.
It’ll be interesting to see if the university actually pushed for this, which is hard to imagine given the copyright issues surrounding the logo, or if it was done outside of the university’s consent.
If so, we may have a short-lived one-hit wonder on our hands.
Better grab one soon!
