Crystal Lake Central (1-0) at Crystal Lake South (0-1): This battle of Crystal Lake features a Tigers team that opened with a comeback win at Huntley as Kyle Lavand threw for over 300 yards. South ran into a buzz saw at Marian Central, falling 31-0 to the Hurricanes.
Grayslake Central (1-0) at Grant (1-0): Central’s defense was outstanding, giving up just over 50 yards in a 14-0 win against Round Lake last week. The offense needs to improve before Fox Valley Conference play begins. The Bulldogs ran through Johnsburg literally, not using a single passing play in a 42-7 win.
Grayslake North (0-1) at Round Lake (0-1): AJ Fish did everything he could for North last week in their loss to Lakes with over 100 yards passing and rushing. The Panthers’ offense couldn’t get on track last week against Grayslake Central and will look for more success this week.
Hampshire (0-1) at DeKalb (0-1): The Whip-Purs fell 16-7 to Burlington Central as Chris Calvin led Hampshire with 43 yards on the ground. The Barbs took a long trip to Galesburg and came home with a 22-13 loss.
Johnsburg (0-1) at Jacobs (1-0): Brett Mooney’s first varsity start was quite successful for the Golden Eagles in a 35-13 win over Marmion as Mooney threw for over 170 yards and two touchdowns. The Skyhawks got a late touchdown but not much else in a 42-7 loss to Grant.
Noble Street Charter (1-0) at Woodstock (0-1): The Blue Streaks took an early lead on Wauconda but couldn’t hold on in a 21-7 loss. Tyler Purkey and Alan Hafer split time at QB last week for Woodstock. Noble Street won a 48-18 game against Kelly.
Woodstock North (1-0) at Lakes (1-0): Ryan Wade ran for 124 of North’s 279 yards as the Thunder won on the road 34-10 against Elmwood Park. North is playing their second of third straight road games. Direll Clark led the Eagles with 140 yards rushing in a 34-21 win against Grayslake North.
Dundee-Crown (1-0) at Streamwood (1-0): D-C won their first game since the 2009 season opener in a 54-12 win over Elgin. Cody Lane had five TD runs for the Chargers. The Sabres rallied past Hoffman Estates 38-20 as Jordan McFeggan accounted for three Streamwood touchdowns.
Lake Zurich (1-0) at Cary-Grove (1-0): The Bears took down Fremd 21-0 behind 241 rushing yards in Jake Stauner’s varsity debut. C-G got 189 yards rushing from Kyle Norberg and another 161 from Quinn Baker in a 47-33 win over St. Charles East.
Prairie Ridge (1-0) at Mundelein (0-1): The Wolves began defense of their Class 6A title with a 35-28 win over Glenbard South with Kingsley Ebirim running for 158 yards. Mundelein lost 23-22 on a last-second by Wheeling in Week 1. Freshmen Gavin Graves threw for over 170 yards in his debut.
Kaneland (1-0) at Huntley (0-1): Huntley saw a 12-point lead slip through their fingertips in a 27-26 loss to Crystal Lake Central to open the season. Bryce Beschorner had seven catches for the Red Raiders. The Knights rallied from 18 behind to beat Brooks 25-24.
Marian Central (1-0) at McHenry (1-0): Marian dominated Crystal Lake South 31-0 to open the season. Chris Streveler threw for almost 200 yards and ran for over 100 more. The Warriors smashed Larkin 60-20 in Week 1 using a 34-point second quarter and three touchdowns by Jessie Guajardo.
