Hudson Tigers Look To Build New Streak Against Lowly Royals
Losing isn’t something the 1-1 Hudson Tigers are used to, especially during the regular season. Last week, though, they traveled to the Morenci Bulldogs and saw their 33 game regular season winning streak end when they left with a 34-28 loss. This week, Hudson will look to bounce back and begin a new winning streak when they host the 0-2 Blissfield Royals.
Blissfield has struggled this year in their first two games. In their first game, they were defeated on the road against the Whiteford Bobcats 26-22.
They lost even worse in their second game when they hosted the Clinton Redskins. Clinton went up 12 in the first and never looked back until the final, winning the game 39-14. They used a balance offense against the Royals gaining exactly 215 yards passing and rushing, with 3 passing and 3 rushing touchdowns. Blissfield won’t find as much balance out of Hudson, though.
Morenci exploited the Tigers’ glaring weakness, and their pass defense. Hudson’s strong defensive line is going to look to make sure this week the Royals don’t exploit it. Their linebackers are going to need to play better as well. Luckily for them, I don’t think Blissfield’s line will be able to keep them out of the backfield. They need to play strong upfront to help the inexperience in the defensive backfield.
Hudson’s offense wasn’t bad last week against Morenci, gaining 281 yards of total offense, but those aren’t the numbers they are used too. They are going to be looking to run the ball like they usually do, but they are going to need to get more production from it. The strength to Hudson is that their defense creates short fields through stops and turnovers. They are going to need to execute to keep the pressure on Blissfield and make them play from behind. I don’t seeing this being a problem for them.
Last year, Hudson won this game on the road by a blowout, winning 45-6. I think this is something that will happen again as Hudson will get back on track. Their defense had breakdowns from Morenci’s passing game that in turned opened up running lanes. It also wore out Hudson’s defensive line. I don’t think Blissfield will be able to move the ball like Morenci did. I also don’t see Blissfield slowing down the running game of Hudson either. They will move the ball on the ground for big yards and will throw passes only to score big plays when it opens it. Even though Blissfield will be at home, they won’t be able to stop the Tigers. My prediction for this game is that Hudson will win big, 42-6.
This game will be played at Blissfield High School on September 7, at 7:00 p.m.
