LSU Football: Tigers Will Be Without Starting Tackle Chris Faulk Versus Washington

By Freddie Vickers

The LSU Tigers were dealt a blow on Wednesday, as Coach Les Miles announced that the Tigers will be without starting left tackle, Chris Faulk.

Faulk, who started all 13 games in 2011, was injured in practice,  The Shreveport Times reports. Miles didn’t elaborate on the injury, just said that it was different than the injury that sidelined Faulk during fall camp.  Miles also expects Faulk to return to game action soon.

Miles did say that six year senior Josh Dworaczyk would likely get the start in Faulk’s absence.  Dworaczyk is the most versatile of the Tigers’ linemen, as he has played center, guard and tackle in his LSU career.  Dworaczyk missed all of the 2011 season with a knee injury and was unable to crack the starting lineup due to sophomore La’el Collins.

Miles likes to move his linemen around, so this shouldn’t be a huge blow to the Tigers’ offense.

Quarterback Zach Mettenberger lead LSU to a victory over North Texas in the season opener.  Mettenberger was sharp as he completed 19 of 26 for 192 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The key to beating the Huskies will be smashing their defensive front with a strong running game.  The Tigers had two backs, Kenny Hilliard and Alfred Blue, both go over 100 yards in the opener versus the Mean Green.

Another key to victory against the Huskies, will be to shut down quarterback Keith Price.  Price is not only an accomplished passer, he can make big plays with his legs.  In the Huskies opener, Price threw for 222 yards and a score and also ran the ball six times for 17 yards.
