Northern Illinois High School Football: Week 3 Fox Valley Conference game capsules

Divisional play gets underway this week in the Fox Valley Conference with a traditional big matchup highlighting the schedule….

Woodstock (1-1) at Crystal Lake Central (1-1): The Blue Streaks put up 52 points in a win over Noble Street Charter as Mike Santucci ran for over 100 yards. Central fell 16-6 in a crosstown battle to Crystal Lake South. Kyle Lavand threw for 138 yards but the Tigers’ running game could only produce three yards in the loss.

Hampshire (1-1) at Grayslake Central (1-1): Hampshire scored with less than a second remaining in a 33-27 win at DeKalb in Week 2. Tyler Crater ran for 90 yards to lead the Whip-Purs in the win. The Rams ran into a buzz saw with Grant, taking a 31-14 defeat. The Central offense had less than ten yards in the first half and will need better production if more wins are in the future.

Jacobs (2-0) at Grayslake North (1-1): It was an easy night for the Golden Eagles in Week 2 during a 41-7 win against Johnsburg. Bret Mooney threw for over 250 yards as Jacobs had a 35-0 halftime lead. The Knights scored a 55-13 win against Round Lake after taking a 49-0 halftime lead of their own. AJ Fish ran for 180 yards from the quarterback position for North.

Woodstock North (1-1) at Johnsburg (0-2): The Thunder couldn’t get past Lakes in a 21-7 loss. Ryan Wade ran for 78 yards to lead North, who will be playing their third straight road game to open the season. The Skyhawks scored a late touchdown to avoid being shutout in a 41-7 loss at Jacobs. Christian Nugent scored the lone score for Johnsburg.

Dundee-Crown (2-0) at McHenry (1-1): It has been a huge turnaround for the Chargers, who came into the 2012 season with a 26-game losing streak. A 27-7 win over Streamwood led by Cody Lane’s 157 yards shows how different D-C is this season. The Warriors battled hard in a 38-28 loss to Marian Central. Jake Braskett brought the opening kickoff back 89 yards for a touchdown last week.

Cary-Grove (2-0) at Crystal Lake South (1-1): Always a battle for the FVC Valley crown as the Trojans come in off a 21-6 win against Lake Zurich. Quinn Baker ran for over 100 yards and also hit Ryan Mahoney on a touchdown pass. The Gators took down Crystal Lake Central 16-6 as Eric Landis ran for 74 yards. Expect a crowd close to 3,000 for this one.

Huntley (0-2) at Prairie Ridge (2-0): The Red Raiders rallied from a 28-point halftime deficit but couldn’t get any closer in a 52-35 loss against Kaneland. Kameron Sallee threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another during the rally for Huntley. The Wolves scored nine touchdowns, all rushing in a 65-7 win against Mundelein. Steven Ladd scored three times for Prairie Ridge.
