A couple of battles between undefeated teams highlight the North Suburban Conference slate in Week 3…..

Warren (1-1) at Zion-Benton (0-2): The Blue Devils got their first win of the season in a 21-6 win over New Trier last week. Davonte Wilcox had a 72-yard touchdown run to pace Warren in the win. It was a rough week for the Zee-Bees, losing 27-13 to Evanston. Eric Gilmore scored in the third quarter to pull Z-B within one but couldn’t tie or take the lead.

Lake Forest (2-0) at Lakes (2-0): It was another great defensive night for the Scouts in Week 2 with a 23-0 win at Highland Park. Lake Forest has given up just seven points so far this season. The Eagles cruised past Woodstock North 21-7. Direll Clark continued his stellar Lakes career with over 140 yards rushing while T.J. Edwards scored two rushing touchdowns.

Mundelein (0-2) at Lake Zurich (1-1):  It was a long night for the Mustangs in falling 65-7 at Prairie Ridge. Emanuel Jones scored an eight-yard touchdown for the only points Mundelein could muster for the game. The Bears couldn’t get any offense going in losing 21-6 at Cary-Grove. Sean Lynch scored the lone touchdown for Lake Zurich in the loss.

Stevenson (1-1) at Libertyville (2-0): Willie Bourbon threw two touchdown passes but it wasn’t enough as the Patriots lost 35-27 to Homewood-Flossmoor. Bourbon completed 24 passes for 260 yards in the defeat. The Wildcats got four touchdowns from Connor Simpson in a 62-14 win against Urban Prep. Libertyville put up nearly 400 yards of total offense.

Antioch (1-1) at Vernon Hills (1-1): A defensive battle didn’t go the Sequoits’ way in a 6-3 loss at Waukegan. Wes Zegan’s first half field goal were the only points for Antioch. The Cougars saw a 14-point lead slip away in a 28-21 loss to St. Francis. Brett Peterson ran for three touchdowns in the first half to lead Vernon Hills.

Wauconda (2-0) at Grant (2-0): David Starkey rushed for 131 yards including a 58-yard touchdown in a 28-22 win against Orr for the Bulldogs. Austin Swenson added 170 passing yards for Wauconda. Grant changed gears and threw more in a 31-14 win over Grayslake Central. Kyle Whitman threw and rushed for over 110 yards while Jonathan Wells rushed for over 115 yards.

Round Lake (0-2) at North Chicago (2-0): Round Lake couldn’t get past Grayslake North in a 55-13 loss in Week 2 after falling behind 49-0 by halftime. John Ridley threw two touchdown passes for the Panthers. The Warhawks hit the road and came home with a 29-2 win over King for their second win of the season, which is more than the team had in 2011.
