Brady Hoke Defends Denard Robinson: ‘He’s A Good Quarterback’

Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

Michigan Wolverines coach Brady Hoke is certain that Denard Robinson will bounce back from his dreadful performance against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from two weeks ago.

The senior quarterback turned the ball over five times in the 13-6 loss in South Bend but Hoke believes that ‘Shoelace’ will deliver the goods against the Purdue Boilermakers this weekend.

“He’s our quarterback, and he’s a damn good quarterback. We’re very comfortable and very confident in him,” Hoke said during a press conference on Monday.

However, the 53-year-old admitted that Robinson must make better decisions in the heat of the moment.

“Do we want him to throw the ball away when the opportunity is there? Do we want him to be a little more on target with the ball at times? No question. But it’s not just him, by any account.”

Robinson was considered by many to be one of the frontrunners for the Heisman trophy ahead of the season but his disastrous showings against the Alabama Crimson Tide and Notre Dame have seen him drop out of the race.

Robinson has thrown eight interceptions so far this season but the Wolverines will be hoping number 16’s accuracy will improve as they get set to face Purdue in West Lafayette on Saturday.
