Big Ten Receives No Votes In Coaches Poll For First Time

Big Ten fans look away, your conference has suffered another blow during this debacle of a season.

For the first time in the history of the coaches’ poll, the Big Ten doesn’t have a single team ranked. Yes, if Ohio State wasn’t on postseason probation they’d be sitting in the top ten, but the fact of the matter is they aren’t. Penn State isn’t being ranked in the coaches poll for the exact same reason.

This is a dagger in the leagues back and this weekend didn’t help their cause. Both Nebraska and Northwestern, ranked in the coaches’ poll last week, fell out of the rankings after suffering double-digit road losses, to you guessed it, Ohio State and Penn State. The Wildcats blew a big lead, like always, and Nebraska let the Buckeyes drop 63 on their blackshirt defense. Not the kind of showing Bo wanted during his trip back home.

The AP Poll gives a little hope, with OSU moving up to No. 8 and Michigan filling out the rankings at No. 25. Big Blue is the only two-loss team in the AP Poll. Their thumping of Purdue deflated the Boilers hopes of being contenders this season after an offseason filled with so much hype.

The Big Ten is becoming the laughing stock of college football and have been since Michigan got pummeled by Alabama in the opening game of the season. That was the chance for the Big Ten to repair their image and they failed miserably.

Not one team that’s not named Ohio State or Penn State looks like they could contend against a Pac12 team in the Rose Bowl.
