Ohio State And Texas Announce Home And Home Series Starting In 2022

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

Ohio State looks to be on the rise again and they have a big home and home series starting in 2022. In an effort to move away from an easy schedule, the Buckeyes have announced that they will play games against Texas in 2022 and 2023.

This is a pretty big deal and we will be seeing more things like this in the coming years.  With the new playoff system starting soon, teams will be looking to boost their OOC schedule in order to look better to the committee.  This is a great thing for college football fans.

This might soon end the horrid games where big name schools play FCS schools that want a paycheck.  Savannah State might need to start having bake sales in order to raise money for their teams.  Although they do not get the experience of playing a big school, this will benefit the sport as a whole going forward.

I hope more teams start announcing games like this.  Once one team does it, more will follow suit.  That is simply how things work.  Although it takes away an easy win, the competition will help make the sport a lot more competitive.  It gets the fans and the players excited.

Props to both ADs for getting something done.  Hopefully this is just the first domino in a long line of marquee match-ups.
