Pat Forde: Big East Will Have An Undefeated Team

Joe Camporeale – USPRESSWIRE

National sports columnist Pat Forde had plenty to say during his mid-season award column for Yahoo! Among the tidbits and anecdotes, this one stood out:

“A Big East team will go 12-0. Three teams are still unbeaten: Louisville, Rutgers and Cincinnati. One of them will get to the finish line without a loss. The Cardinals should have the best opportunity with four of their last six at home, including Cincinnati Oct. 26. Both the Scarlet Knights and Bearcats are on upset alert Saturday: Rutgers at Temple and Cincy at Toledo.”

While the idea of an undefeated Big East team might sound crazy, Forde isn’t paid to write nonsense. There is some merit to the possibility, but don’t start dreaming of a BCS Title, Big East fans. It’s more than likely that an undefeated Big East team would be on the outskirts of the BCS Title conversation — behind one-loss teams from bigger and better conferences.

Here are the remaining schedules for each of the three Big East undefeated squads:

Rutgers: @Temple, Kent State, Army, @Cincinatti, @Pittsburgh, Louisville

Louisville: South Florida, vs. Cincinnati, vs. Temple, @Syracuse, vs. Connecticut, @Rutgers

Cincinnati: @Toledo, @Louisville, Syracuse, @Temple, Rutgers, South Florida, @Connecticut

Do you believe any of the Big East contenders can run the table?
