One of the best rivalries in college football is set to go down this third Saturday of October, as has been the tradition. Alabama will be travelling to Knoxville, TN this October 20th to face the Tennessee Volunteers in their second away game in a row. While the last five games have gone to the number one ranked Alabama team, both coaches know that a storied rivalry such as this is anyone’s game. Traditionally, the underdog assumes a certain advantage in a rival game, regardless of the team’s performance in other games, making this a game to watch this season.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban respects the potential in an SEC match up such this one saying, “This is the biggest, best offensive line we’ve played against and probably the team that is most capable of running the ball and throwing it and presenting the most balance” in a press conference this week. Saban stated earlier, “…it’s always tough to play in the SEC and tough to play in Tennessee.”
The sentiment of Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley, in regard to this weekend was similar. Dooley was quoted as saying, “This is the SEC, so if you are looking for an easy way through, there isn’t one.” Dooley went on to say of the Alabama team,”They have absolutely annihilated everybody they have played, physically and on the scoreboard…my biggest concern is us and I mean that…”
The kickoff is scheduled for 6pm CT and will air on ESPN.
