Louisville Will Look to Stay Perfect Under Friday Night Lights
The Louisville Cardinals are one of only 11 undefeated Division I football teams and the Big East Conference frontrunner’s next test will come on a Friday night. Louisville will host the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday night at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. The Cardinals have many goals left to reach, including an undefeated regular-season, another Big East title and the school’s second BSC Bowl appearance.
Cincinnati has Louisville’s number. The Bearcats have defeated Louisville each of the last four seasons, winning three of the last four BIG EAST titles along the way.
Louisville, 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big East Conference, edged the South Florida Bulls 27-25 last week. Head coach Charlie Strong has seen his team flirt with a loss in more than half of its games thus far this season. The Cardinals have shown the ability to pull out tight games, winning four of seven games by seven points or less.
Cincinnati is 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Bearcats dropped their first game to the Toledo Rockets last week.
Louisville will wear white uniforms in its home game versus Cincinnati. It’ll be the first time that Louisville has worn white uniforms in a home game at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Louisville was selling special white T-shirts at the Cardinal Authentic this week.
Sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater continues to lead the way for the Cardinals. Bridgewater has been named a semifinalist for the coveted Davey O’Brien Award. He is one of 16 semifinalists for the award and the only remaining contender from the Big East. The Louisville quarterback has thrown for 1,694 yards and 11 touchdowns. Bridgewater has completed 73.4 percent of his passes.
Kickoff for the Louisville-Cincinnati game is set for 8 p.m. ESPN will air the conference contest to a national-television audience.
