No. 5 - North Carolina State Wolfpack (20.88)

The North Carolina State Wolfpack slide back one slot but hold on at No. 5 in Woody’s High Five for Week 10.

The Wolfpack strength rests in the right arm of QB Mike Glennon (pictured above) as NC State is second in the ACC and 18th in the nation in passing.

Besides punt return coverage against Giovanni Bernard, State’s weakest area is still in the secondary as it ranks dead last in the ACC in passing defense.

Case 1-A why the Wolfpack is just a middle of the road team in a mediocre conference.

No. 4 - Virginia Tech Hokies (20.65)

The Virginia Tech Hokies got the grace of an off week to move up to No. 4 in Woody’s High Five.

This is just such a blah Virginia Tech team…

There is just nothing worth bragging or getting bent out of shape about…

The Hokies are the pretty girl all your friends have told you about, but when you finally meet here there just is no spark.

Virginia Tech has the 51st toughest schedule in the country which is good for 2nd in the ACC.

And there you have it…

The ACC is hoping and praying the Hokies of the past 10 years somehow show up for the rest of the season.

Of the teams still alive in the chase for the Coastal Division Crown, Virginia Tech is the only one who could conceivably make the ACC Championship Game worth watching.

No. 3 - 13th-Ranked Clemson Tigers (13.59)

The Clemson Tigers cut the gap for the second week in a row, but still comes in at No. 3 in Woody’s High Five for Week 10.

The jump is due in large part to the fact the Tigers are slowly but surely getting its act together on defense.

Clemson is 5th in the league in passing defense and 6th in scoring defense, but if it wants to grab the headlines it must improve its rushing defense that has stayed around 10th for just about the whole season.

If the Tigers can figure out how to defend the run, the sky is the limit because offensively there are few teams better.

Clemson is 12th nationally in passing, 45th in rushing and 10th in scoring…

No. 2 - North Carolina Tar Heels (13.12)

It’s just a crying shame the North Carolina Tar Heels, who come in for the 4th week in a row at No. 2 in Woody’s High Five, will not get a chance to see how it matches up against either the 9th-ranked Florida State Seminoles or the 13th-ranked Clemson Tigers.

But Carolina knew what it was getting when it hired Butch Davis back in the day…

So thanks to Davis and his lack of institutional control, players like Giovanni Bernard will not get a chance to shine nationally in the ACC Championship Game.

At least for this year…

The Tar Heels are still solid in every category ranking 3rd or 4th in 8 of the 10.

Carolina’s one weakness , though, is in passing defense as it comes in at No. 10.

Nationally, the Heels are 32nd in passing, 26th in rushing, 17th in points for and 29th in points against.

No. 1 - 9th-Ranked Florida State Seminoles (7.41)

And surprise, surprise…

Look who is still at the top…

The 9th-ranked Florida State Seminoles are just simply running away and hiding from the rest of the ACC and hold on to Woody’s High Five Top Spot for Week 10.

The ‘Noles are No. 1 in 8 of the 10 conference categories and are No. 2 in rushing offense and No. 3 in passing offense.

Complete domination…,

Nationally, FSU is 24th in passing, 16th in rushing, 4th in points scored and 3rd in points allowed.

FSU is just crushing it…

But even with those stats, too many people and too many motherboards just don’t believe in the Seminoles or the ACC.

Not yet..

But there is still time..
