Tim Beckman is not a popular man right now in the state of Illinois.
He’s been slammed by every angle of criticism. Fans. Media. Blogs. Illini supporters are calling for the head of Beckman after their embarrassing 2-6 start. Illinois is winless in conference play and just lost to Indiana who hasn’t won a Big Ten game in two years. They are starting to fall behind programs like the Hoosiers and several others in the league who are trying to climb out of the gutter.
After being asked by the media about his teams fifth consecutive loss, Beckman sarcastically said he was doing awesome. He quickly confessed he’s loss 22 pounds, clearly leaning towards how stressful and unhappy he was with losing.
He’s still receiving no sympathy from the Illini faithful. And he doesn’t deserve any.
Beckman continues to operate under the ME first coaching system. His team has been anything but impressive on the field this season, especially the defense. He was disciplined for having tobacco in his mouth on the sidelines during a game. And now, he’s blurting out how much weight he’s lost this season, desperately trying to receive sympathy from someone.
He’s not going to get it, especially with saying the same old cliche phrases after a loss.
Beckman continues to say they need to “evaluate” things AGAIN. How do you continue to evaluate players committing personal fouls? How to you continue to evaluate discipline? You either have it or you don’t.
Things could get ugly for the Illini with their remaining schedule. They may get even uglier for Beckman.
