Danny Hope on the Hot Seat At Purdue
Hold on. Wasn’t this suppose to be Danny Hope’s best team in West Lafayette he’s ever had?
That’s what everyone thought. Way to get Boiler fans hopes up, Danny.
With his team sitting at 3-6 overall and a miserable 0-5 in conference play, Purdue has a difficult road to reaching bowl eligibility. Reports have started to surface that athletic director Morgan Burke has already started looking for Hope’s replacement.
Can you blame him? Hope has gone 19-27 during his career with the Boilermakers and hasn’t produced a winner on the field that he’s often preached. He’s had a few stellar recruiting classes and brought in quality talent with all kinds of speed.
He hasn’t been able to put it together and the seat is getting hot under Hope. Fans are growing restless and some have completely abandoned the program. Don’t believe it? Take a look at all the empty seats on game day. BOILER UP is heard just a little bit softer these days at Ross-Ade Stadium.
How did this all happen? Purdue started 3-1 and played rival Notre Dame down to the wire in South Bend. It all came crashing down when they were blown out at home by Michigan and Wisconsin. The Boilers almost took down Ohio State in the horseshoe, but lost in overtime. After that, embarrassing losses to Minnesota and Penn State by double digits followed.
The future for Hope is in Burke’s hands and you have to think a change is coming.
When you hype up the best team you’ve ever had, you better back it up.
