ACC Football Week 11 Pick Em’
There was a rare Virginia siting last week, and the Cavaliers actually playing to their potential was a huge surprise to me. I ended up going 3-2 in my picks last week, which makes my record for the year 60-18 (.769 winning percentage). I have to get that number up and will attempt to accomplish that this week.
Duke is the only ACC team on a bye this week, and there are plenty of good games to check in on Thursday and Saturday.
Let’s get to the picks!
Virginia Tech doesn’t lose at home on Thursday night; at least that is true any other year. The Hokies have struggled in almost every game this season and their 4-5 season is proof of that. Florida State on the other hand is the best team in the ACC. I can’t see any way that the Hokies can pull the upset. Pick: FSU over VT
Miami vs. Virginia
This is a matchup of the two teams that screwed up my picks last week. Virginia’s back is against the wall, if they lose again then they will not be able to win six games and go to a bowl. Miami is playing to keep their hold on the Coastal Division. Miami is a more talented team and I think the Cavs’ bowl dreams will end on Saturday. Miami over UVa
The Yellow Jackets got back on track last week with a big win over Maryland. However, it is hard to read a lot into the win, because the Terrapins started a linebacker at quarterback. North Carolina had a bye week to prepare for the triple option and that usually spells doom for Georgia Tech. UNC will win this game tight. Pick: UNC over GT
I’m not really sure what to make of either of these teams. The Wolfpack beat Florida State earlier this year, but haven’t won a game since. Wake Forest is once again overachieving. The Demon Deacons had a big win over Boston College last week. Both of these teams are a win away from bowl eligibility. I have to pick Wake here because State has been reeling since they beat FSU. Pick: Wake over NC State
Injuries have completely derailed Maryland’s season, and they probably won’t win again this year. Clemson is an elite team and they don’t lose at home, so I just don’t see any way that a Maryland linebacker/quarterback can outplay Tajh Boyd. Pick: Clemson over Maryland
The Fighting Irish are relevant again. They are undefeated and ranked fourth in the BCS standings, but they have struggled against lesser competition. Last week Notre Dame had to go through three overtimes in order to defeat Pittsburgh. However, Boston College shouldn’t provide much of a challenge. The Eagles have a good offense, but a porous defense and the Irish can take advantage of that. Notre Dame will jump out early and won’t look back. Pick: ND over BC
