Woody's Log Week 11 - ACC Football Winners Against the Spread

There is clearly only one thing that can be said about the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles win in the final minute on the road against the Virginia Tech Hokies

Thank God ACC Basketball Season officially tips-off tonight!

It will be nice to be able to chat about three or four ACC Schools that are ranked in the top 10 and live up to expectations…

(let’s all have a moment of quiet reflection that the North Carolina State Wolfpack Basketball Team doesn’t have whatever afflicts its football team)

Just kidding!

Anyway, it was an interesting Thursday Night ESPN game for ACC Football fans.

You could literally feel the rollercoaster of emotions in both Tallahassee, Florida and Clemson, South Carolina throughout the entire game.

For what it lacked in beauty, it definitely made up in high drama…

Especially in the final 10 minutes of the game…

The best news, though, from the game is that Virginia Tech’s Michael Cole only had a neck sprain and had full movement of all limbs. It was a tense moment in the third quarter as medical personal attended to him and loaded him into the ambulance. Reports are he left the hospital last night and doctors will determine his ability to play early next week.

All else aside, a great blessing for Cole he was not injured more severely.

But as far as the game itself…

It was painful…

FSU is 10th in the BCS Rankings and had 10 or more days to prepare for the Hokies and this was the best it could come up with?

It is now clear why the computers and most humans laugh at the ACC when it comes to football…

No offense to Virginia Tech, but the ‘Noles should have ran them out of the building…

Oh wait…

That’s right, the second best rushing team in the conference couldn’t even get to positive yards on the ground for the entire game last night…

That was the first time in FSU history the Seminoles finished a game with negative yards rushing…

But what a finish!

Twitter was chirping big time from Clemson Nation and Seminole Nation with the disaster, excitement, excitement and disaster that was the final 10 minutes…

It was gold…

Bet you 10 bucks ACC Commissioner Mike Swofford had a fruit basket waiting for E.J. Manuel and Rashard Green thanking them for completely saving the ACC’s BCS Bank Account.

So with one big game complete for Week 11, Ole Woody’s Log is at 0-1 with a slate of five more games coming up on Saturday.

For the season now, the tally is 41-26-1 after a 3-2 Week 10…

So who is going to win Against the Spread in the remainder of the games this weekend…

Click away and enjoy the fun that will be the ACC for Week 11...

The Miami Hurricanes are only giving up three points in this game…

The Coastal Division leading Hurricanes are giving three to the lowly and last place Virginia Cavaliers.

Oh, but that’s right…

It’s time for Virginia to win out so it can be bowl eligible like it did last season after stinking up the joint for 8 weeks…

Bottom line is Miami is a young team that has a superior coach in Al Golden.

The Hurricanes win and cover, 40-23.

Somehow the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are still mathematically alive to win the Coastal Division.

Don’t ask how, but unfortunately they are…

It will take a complete and utter self destruction by both the Miami Hurricanes and the Duke Blue Devils for it to happen though…

But there is a chance and that is all the hope the Jackets need…

The good news is that Georgia Tech is on the road and facing the team with the most talent in the Coastal in the North Carolina Tar Heels who have had an extra week to prepare for Paul Johnson’s option offense.

Anything can happen and it usually does in the games between the Jackets and the Heels.

Giovani Bernard will run circles around the Tech defense, though, and Carolina will put the Jackets out to pasture for the rest of 2012, 48-24.

So everyone remembers the teacher from Charlie Brown right?

(whaa whaa wu whaa wah wuuuwaaaoooo)

That is basically the same thing everyone hears when talking about the Wake Forest Demon Deacons playing the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

(shakes hand and rolls dice)

Wake wins, 24-20

(was it mentioned basketball starts today in the ACC cause this would be a good game)

Maryland Terrapins @ No. 13 Clemson Tigers (-27)

Maryland Terrapins @ No. 13 Clemson Tigers (-27)

ESPNU – 3:30 p.m.

XM 192 – SIRIUS 136

So the most prolific offense in the ACC in the 13th-ranked Clemson Tigers is facing the second best defense in conference in the Maryland Terrapins

Sounds way more exciting than it really is folks…

Especially when the Terps are starting a linebacker at quarterback for the second straight game.

The thing to watch in this game is who goes down with a knee injury for Maryland.

The Terps have lost a player to an injury in just about every game they have played in 2012.

Creepy and something that everyone hopes does not happen.

Tigers win big and cover 54-16.

Technically this is an ACC Conference Game right?

This particular writer is basically driving the Notre Dame Fighting Irish bandwagon for Rant Sports but something just doesn't feel right about this game…

It could just be the mythical magical powers of Frank Spaziani’s porn stash though...

But this could be a great game for the nation to view for a couple of different reasons.

One.. the Irish had a huge emotional overtime win last week and has every right to doubt the ability of the Boston College Eagles.

Two.. Chase Rettig is probably the best quarterback Notre Dame has faced all season.

Three… Spaziani’s stash can be very, very distracting…

But bottom line, there is something special about this Notre Dame team and it has found a way to win all season long.

The Irish will hold BC in check, win, but not cover, 33-23.
