Georgia Tech vs Will Grier... Who Can Score More? - The Good, Bad, Ugly from Week 11 in ACC Football

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets just scored another touchdown against the North Carolina Tar Heels

Seriously Georgia Tech…

Where in the heck have you been keeping that one all season…

The only thing more surprising the state of North Carolina this past weekend was that kid, Will Grier, who completed 35-42 passes for 837 yards and 10 touchdowns in a 104-80… yes… 104-80 win for Davidson Day over Harrells Christian Academy on Friday night.

Both teams combined for 1,641 yards of offense…

Tech and Carolina could only put up 118 points and 1085 yards…

For the record, the 118 points is the most points scored in an ACC Football game since the Virginia Cavaliers beat the Tulane Green Wave, 63-47, back in 1968.

Remember those good ole days when Virginia was a good football team?

(check the weekly dig on the Cavaliers off the list)

But seriously, one heck of a week for the Yellow Jackets who are now tied for the lead in the Coastal Division!

Yes folk…

Georgia Tech is tied and has the inside track to the ACC Championship Game coming up in a few weeks.

How absolutely nuts would that be?

But, at this point, the Yellow Jackets would be the better match up for either the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles or the 11th-ranked Clemson Tigers.

Just completely shocking and a push that will probably save Paul Johnson’s job.

But Georgia Tech and Carolina were just one of the interesting things from this past week.

So let’s jump in and take a look at The Good, The Bad and The Ugly for what was ACC Football in Week 11

The Good - ACC Football Week 11

Jamal Golden (pictured above) lived up to his name for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as he put up 261 all-purpose yards in the 68-50 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels. Golden’s shinning play was a 100-yard kick-off return for a touchdown. Simply stellar!

The Yellow Jackets as a whole deserve a lot of credit for jumping off the mat and putting up 68 in the victory over the Heels. The 68 points set a new Georgia Tech record eclipsing the old mark of 63 it scored against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in 1998. The win also has Tech in the mix for the Coastal Division title. Amazing…

The 11th-ranked Clemson Tigers just keep getting better and better each week on both sides of the ball as it crushed the depleted Maryland Terrapins, 45-10. The win for the Tigers is the 12th in a row at Death Valley setting a new record eclipsing the old mark of 11 straight from 1937-42 and again from 1989-91.

The Bad - ACC Football Week 11

Joshua S. Kelly-US PRESSWIRE

Not everything was perfect for the 11th-ranked Clemson Tigers on Saturday as superstar Sammy Watkins (pictured above) left the game in the second quarter with what was called a leg injury. All reports are this was just for precaution, but the situation will need to be monitored closely.

All the Miami Hurricanes had to do was win and it pretty much could have wrapped up the Coastal Division. But it couldn’t find a way to stop the Virginia Cavaliers at any point in time during a 41-40 last second loss. Bad showing for a team that still can make the ACC Championship Game if it beats the Duke Blue Devils in two weeks.

Is this season just a joke or what for the Virginia Tech Hokies? They had the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles dead to rights and let them off the hook. The Virginia Tech the country knows and that has ruled ACC Football for the past 8 seasons would have never let an opponent win a game like that in the final seconds. Just bad football from an elite program.

The Ugly - ACC Football Week 11

Was there any doubt that the North Carolina Tar Heels were not going to lead the way for the ugly of the ugly from Week 11? This whole section might just be dedicated to the Heels simply because they had an extra week off to prepare for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the third-best defense in ACC Football give up 68 points. Words simply cannot describe just how terrible and ugly that is.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons could only come up with 16 rushing yards against and 165 passing yards in a 37-6 loss to the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Wake is too good to be held to those kind of numbers and it just shows a poor attitude on a team who has punched it in for the 2012 season.

The 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles found a way to win in the final minutes on the road in Blacksburg, Virginia, but it still ended the game with an embarrassing stat. Somehow, someway, the 10th best team in the country finished the game with -15 yards rushing. Yes, -15 yards! It was the first time in Seminole history it won a game that it finished with negative rushing yards. That's just throw up on you mama kind of ugly.

ACC Football and the BCS Rankings for Week 12

Joshua S. Kelly-US PRESSWIRE

Well, the good news for Week 12 is that the 11th-ranked Clemson Tigers moved up two slots in the BCS Rankings!

The bad news is that it is one spot behind the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles who didn’t move.

The ACC still seems doomed as both the Tigers and the ‘Noles are stuck behind six-straight SEC Teams who all have one or two loses.

And everyone knows even if the ACC powers win out, there will be no leaping of any SEC team.

There are the pending match ups between FSU and the 6th-ranked Florida Gators, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets versus the 5th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs and the Tigers hosting the 9th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.

Is it possible…

But even if it happens, it still may not be enough with just two weeks remaining.
