Butch Jones has to be one of the hottest rising head coaches in college football. It makes that sense that are teams that want to hire him but the latest batch of college football rumors might not make a whole ton of sense. It appears that Purdue would be very interested in Jones if they do decide to part ways with Danny Hope after the season.

As far as Hope goes, he is as good as gone. Purdue could win out to finish at 7-6 and it still would not matter. The fans are tired of him and with good reason. For all the bluster that Hope brings, his team has been unable to put results on the board. His mangling of the quarterback situation has basically ended his tenure in West Lafayette.
As far as Jones goes, it is an intriguing option but maybe not one based in reality. In order to get Jones to leave his current school, I would imagine he would want a pay raise. Purdue is notoriously thrifty, although that changed after Matt Painter almost left the school for more money. Maybe the administration realizes that you can not save money on coaches and expect big results on the field.
Jones would probably have to be blown away by an offer if he was to consider jumping ship. Expect the Boilers to target a mid-major coach or a rising young assistant. Jones would be great for the program but chalk this up to basic rumor mill churning.
