Montee Ball Ready To Break Another Record On Saturday

If you’re one of the top high school running backs around the country, wouldn’t you take in to serious consideration playing for Wisconsin? Every season the Badgers produced a 1,000 yard rusher, sometimes even two (Ball and White) running behind that massive offensive line.

Ron Dayne set the standard thirteen years ago, and now Montee Ball is the golden workhorse. He sits on the doorstep of another Wisconsin milestone for running backs just thirteen years after Dayne broke the NCAA career rushing record.

Ball needs one more touchdown Saturday against Ohio State to tie the NCAA career record of 78 held by former Miami (Ohio) standout Travis Prentice. No. 28 has been on a tear the past six games, scoring 13 touchdowns while running right through Big Ten defenses.

Ball’s next rushing touchdown will put him at 72 for his career, moving him past the former Heisman Trophy winner Dayne for the Big Ten career record. An unbelievable accomplishment when you look at the career Dayne had in Madison. Ball deserves all the acclaim that comes his way, he is the real deal.

Wisconsin’s record setting running back will have even more emotion running through his mind on Saturday, it will be senior day against the Buckeyes, the last time Ball will run out on the field with his teammates.

The Badgers have already punched their ticket to Indianapolis, but with Ball’s record right in front of him and the newly formed rivalry between Ohio State on the line, don’t expect Bret Bielema’s squad to put their foot on the brake.

They’ll run the football, run the football, and run the football. Just like they’ve always have.
