Oregon and Kansas State Lose: Let Chaos Rule the BCS

By M. Shannon Smallwood

So the unthinkable has happened…

In a little over three and a half hours, everything you thought you knew about College Football and the BCS Rankings just went up in flames.

And unless you worship Touchdown Jesus or the SEC, the world probably seems pretty hopeless at this point…

Chaos has finally emerged to once again rule the land.

The curse of No. 1 was the first to take its sacrifice as the Baylor Bears absolutely demolished the Top-Ranked Kansas State Wildcats, 52-24.

Simply unthinkable a few hours ago.

And then you have what was the Stanford Cardinal and the Oregon Ducks

Stanford simply knew it was the kryptonite to Oregon and played like it the entire game.

The Cardinal held the Ducks to 14 points, survived three turnovers, scored late to tie and found a way to win, 17-14, in overtime on the road.

(takes a deep breath and sits down)

What in the heck does all this mean now?

Simply, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is now the No. 1 team in the country followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Now what will be interesting to see how far the Wildcats and the Ducks fall, how far the other teams in the SEC rise and if the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles or the 11th-ranked Clemson Tigers can get some love and respect.

But you know what really makes this so perfect…

There is still Week 13 and the all the Conference Championship Games for chaos to wreak a little more havoc.
