Predicting Every College Football Bowl Game
College Football Bowl Predictions
Every season trying to determine which college football teams will play in which bowls becomes increasingly more difficult. This is for a number of reasons not the least of which is the number of conferences which cannot get a proper number of eligible teams. In this latest projection I have something close to 10 teams right now in bowl games that are there because the conference that is to have the matchup doesn’t have enough eligible teams.
And please don’t misunderstand me, I am no bowl guru. I use where teams are ranked right now, where I think they might be ranked at the end of the season, and in some cases who I think would be the most significant matchup in terms of a good fit, or who would bring in the best crowds. It’s hardly a perfect system, but since I only do this once a year, it’s always interesting to see how close I get when the bowl season actually begins.
There are 35 bowl games including the BCS Bowls and the BCS Championship game. That means that 70 Division I, or BCS schools that will be participating in bowl games this year, and that’s a lot, but it really seems like sometimes it’s hard to find enough good teams to fill the spots. In a sport that is supposed to have parity, getting enough 6 win teams, especially in big conferences who are actually allowed to play in bowl games is getting harder and harder.
I will follow this article up with my predictions for the winners of every bowl game once all the teams have been announced. I like to call them my bowl predictions sure to go wrong. Keep an eye out for those.
Let’s take a look at my predictions for the 35 college football bowls and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @nfldraftboard for even more football ramblings.
