The Good, Bad, Ugly and the Epic Failure that was ACC Football Week 13

O-and-flipping-four…

Nada…

Zilch…

ZERO…

That is all ACC Football could muster against the powerful SEC for Week 13.

It is still shocking not one ACC Team couldn’t pull out one victory…

But when you get outscored 161-74 in four games you simply aren’t going to win…

(sigh)

To be honest, it’s taken an extra day to come up with something Good from Week 13!

But it is just hard to accept the computers and the mainstream media were spot on about the ACC…

The 13th-ranked Florida State Seminoles and the 15th-ranked Clemson Tigers haven’t played that bad all season…

It was beyond depressing and frustrating…

Is it too much to ask for the ACC to show up just once against the SEC?

Evidently it is…

And Saturday proved that the ACC is nowhere near capable or ready to play big-boy BCS Football.

Let’s not even talk about how embarrassing the ACC Coastal Division Champion Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets played….

The Jackets looked like a Division III team against the SEC Eastern Division Champion Georgia Bulldogs.

And let’s just forget the Wake Forest Demon Deacons even exist…

But, it is kind of fitting it was Week 13 when the Maryland Terrapins get bought by the Big 10, the ACC goes winless against the SEC and all hopes of two BCS Teams for the conference go up in flames.

There is always hope for next year right?

Well, let’s put a merciful end to The Good, The Bad, The Ugly for the ACC for Week 13…

The Good - ACC Football Week 13

good

This sports writer predicted a breakout season and a magical one for QB (pictured above) and the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Well, State is Bowl Eligible and Glennon capped off a strong season by going 24 of 37 for 245 yards and a pair of touchdowns on Saturday. But the big news was Glennon's finished with a season total of 3,648 yards which is second on the school's all-time list, behind Philip Rivers. Glennon is the first player in N.C. State history to record multiple 30-touchdown seasons. He had 31 last season and 30 this year. Great end to a career!

Somehow, someway in an ugly, cold game the Virginia Tech Hokies survived to pick up a 17-14 win over the Virginia Cavaliers to become Bowl Eligible. The Hokies qualifying brings the ACC total to six.

The Miami Hurricanes and the Duke Blue Devils put on one heck of a show Saturday. Hurricane freshman Duke Johnson rushed for season highs of 176 yards and three touchdowns, Stephen Morris had three passing scores and went 15 for 25 for 369 yards as Miami held on to beat Duke 52-45. Duke’s Sean Renfree threw for a career-high 432 yards and a career-high-tying four touchdowns in his final home game for the Blue Devils. Both teams combined for 1,229 total yards.

The Bad - ACC Football Week 13

bad

The high-flying 15th-ranked Clemson Tigers fell flat on its face in a devastating 27-17 loss to the 10th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. With the game on the line in the second half, the tigers could only muster 19 total plays while giving up 51 to the Gamecocks. Clemson is now 0-4 against South Carolina in the last four games.

And with a BCS Berth and national respect on the line, the 13th-ranked Florida State Seminoles simply choked on its own hype. The ‘Noles looked like they had never seen a football, only to surge ahead to take the lead but only to give up 24 points in the fourth quarter for the devastating loss to the 4th-ranked Florida Gators.

It was a tough game for FSU and All-ACC DE Tank Carradine will miss this week’s ACC Championship Game and the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. A devastating loss for the ‘Noles and a sad was for Carradine to end a stellar season.

The Ugly - ACC Football Week 13

ugly
Daniel Shirey-US PRESSWIRE

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were simply owned by the Georgia Bulldogs. But despite getting blown out 42-10, the Jackets rushed for 306 yards, went for 426 total yards and help the ball 39:56. Tech does all that and still manages to get clobbered. Epically ugly.

Someone should have told the Wake Forest Demon Deacons it still had one game remaining as it was destroyed 55-21 by the Vanderbilt Commodores. Wake gave ups 426 total yards to Vandy and 524 return yards. Ugly in every way.

The North Carolina Tar Heels did beat the Maryland Terrapins but it wasn’t easy. In fact the Heels somehow gave up 38 points including 21 points in the span of 34 seconds to end the first half and begin the second. All these points to a team that is playing a LB at quarterback. Just Ugly…

Let’s face it…

The computers were right and ACC Football is simply not that good.

It breaks the heart of all of ACC Nation

But the truth hurts…

The ACC’s lone win against the SEC was against the lowly Auburn Tigers.

Overall, the ACC finished the 2012 season 3-18 against BCS Non-Conferenceopponents…

Let’s all take a moment of silence for the pathetic season that was the ACC in 2012…

3-18…

To make matters even worse, SEC Championship Tickets are starting at $450 each for nosebleed seats...

You can get a premium seat fro the ACC Championship starting at $4.50...

Pathetic…
