Wisconsin Badgers Make Statement In Big Ten Title Game

The Big Ten Championship game seemed like a mismatch on paper with the 10-2 Nebraska Cornhuskers facing a 7-5 Wisconsin Badgers team that wouldn’t even be in that game without the postseason restrictions on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions. There is no doubt that the game was a mismatch, but just not in the way most would have expected with Wisconsin’s complete and utter destruction of Nebraska.

The Badgers came out and took it to the Cornhuskers right from the start and probably could have scored 80 or 90 points if they really wanted to. Wisconsin will play the Stanford Cardinal in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 in Pasadena and that will be a great game with two dominant rushing teams wearing the color red just like a rose. If you are a Wisconsin fan, winning a second straight Big Ten title was a great experience, but I have to admit that the Big Ten needed to do something at least for this season with the fact that they had one division with just four teams eligible for a conference title.

It would have been worth moving one team into the other division to at least even the divisions out for the year and give a fair opportunity to another team that got stuck in second or third place in a division with six teams instead of one with four eligible teams. I know things aren’t fair and never will be so we will never know what could have been. It will be a sea of red on New Year’s Day in the Rose Bowl.
