Braxton Miller Should Have Been A Heisman Trophy Finalist

On Monday, the finalists for the 2012 Heisman Trophy were announced. In a bit of a surprise, there were only three players selected to go to New York. Braxton Miller of Ohio State was not one of those and that is a shame.

Although tOSU is not eligible for a bowl game this year, they did go 12-0.  No matter which way you slice it, that is still extremely impressive.  Miller made great strides this year and the kid is only going to get better.  He was a big reason that they outperformed expectations this year.

Now I do not think that Miller should win the award.  My thoughts on the subject have been very clear for sometime.   However, how is this class any different than last year’s?  Five guys went to NY last year but only three are going this year.  There are a lot of deserving players in this class and it is just too bad that Miller will not be joining them.

However, it is not all lost for Miller.  He is going to return to a very good team and he might just write his own Heisman story next year.  That would be a biggest thrill than going to New York this year.  Everyone is going to have to watch out for Miller and this team.  If they needed a tiny bit of extra motivation for next year, this might just be it.
