Art Briles Signs Contract Extension At Baylor
There was a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Art Briles. The head football coach at Baylor was drawing heavy interest from other schools, but the head man will be staying put in Waco. Briles has agreed to a contract extension, which means Baylor fans have nothing to worry about right now.
There were whispers that Briles could end up jumping to a larger school, but I think this is the right move for him. He has made Baylor a fun team to watch and a team that is very close to contending for a conference championship. You can’t say that about Baylor very often. I think that he will get his title within a couple of years, which means Baylor can go to the BCS. Now that would be great.
Briles is an offensive wizard and his teams always seem to come up big in key games. Without the amazing play of Baylor late in the season, the title picture would look a lot different. The defense still needs some work but the pieces are starting to come together down there. The future is very bright in Waco and I believe that Briles realizes that it is the right place for him.
He could still leave the school down the road, and I would not blame him for that. However, he does not have to leave just yet. He wants to accomplish more things before he leaves and I would guess he is going to be there for at least the next four years.
Smart move by the team getting him back onboard with a nice raise.
