Toledo Rockets Should Mash Way Through Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

The second game of the college football bowl season hits on Saturday afternoon as the Toledo Rockets face the Utah State Aggies in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl at 4:30 p.m. Eastern in Boise. Toledo comes in at 9-3 while Utah State is 10-2. When I look at this matchup, I see a Toledo team that was challenged all year in the Mid-American Conference against a Utah State team that played just two quality opponents in the Wisconsin Badgers and BYU Cougars and the Aggies lost to both of those teams before sweeping through the Western Athletic Conference.

I don’t see any reason why the Rockets won’t just roll right through Utah State with players like David Fluellen and Terrance Owens, who can be run for days. If Utah State doesn’t have an answer for either of those players, it’s going to be a long afternoon on the blue turf. Owens is dangerous through the air and can run as well which makes the Rockets very hard to stop. Utah State must get a huge game from Kerwynn Williams on the ground if they want to have any chance of winning this game.

This won’t be much of a game on what should be a very nice day for the fans in Boise. The Rockets are well on the way to blasting right through Utah State and this game will be over by the half. I’m thinking Toledo takes this game 38-20. The score won’t be indicative of how dominant Toledo will be for the afternoon but at least the bowl games will have started.
