Conference Realignment Ruining Student-Athletes

We have seen over the past five or six years a lot of change in college athletics with realignment of conferences all over the place. There are teams in conferences that aren’t familiar to anyone and other teams that will be moving soon to make it a whole different world for fans of college sports. I really think that this has to stop and stop now for the sake of the student-athletes mostly.

How can a student-athlete honestly be in school for the time that is needed when their team has to travel 500-600 miles to a game on a regular basis? The Big East Conference is going to have football teams from coast to coast next season and how does anyone expect a player to get school work done with a plane trip from Connecticut to California for a simple conference game? It is a real joke and a travesty to be honest. If you really want to realign things and get it over with right away, why not just bunch schools into 12-team conferences geographically?

How difficult would it be to find a central point and put those closest teams together so the student-athlete can actually have a chance to learn like they should be in college? I don’t see why this can’t happen and for fans who are used to conferences that has certain teams, those days are long gone and will be forgotten soon. The Big Ten Conference has 14 teams and the Big 12 Conference has ten teams. Those numbers don’t add up to me and this money grab has to end now.
