According to a report on SoonerScoop.com, Senior DT Stacy McGee of the Oklahoma Sooners was arrested early Monday morning for a DUI and driving on a suspended license. McGee is the third Sooner to be arrested since the last game of the regular season, which was less than a month ago.
It is also being reported the head coach Bob Stoops is aware of McGee’s arrest and has yet to make a decision on whether or not he will play in the Cotton Bowl on January 4th. But with McGee’s previous history with the team, I’d be willing to guess that he will be seeing his career at Oklahoma come to a close with a suspension. Not the best way to end your college career.
If you remember, McGee was suspended the first six games of the season for violating team rules and university policy. His first game back was against Notre Dame and he saw his way back into the rotation for every game thereafter.
Earlier this month, the other two Sooners that were arrested were Jalen Saunders and Cortez Johnson who were charged with possession of marijuana. There was also Joe Powell, who is looking at felony charges of possession and intent to distribute marijuana, who goes to trial soon. Powell’s initial arrest was back in October.
The natives are starting to get restless with all this arrest news that has been coming out of Norman lately. And if the natives are getting restless, I imagine the coaches, university and their teammates are even more so.
