Pinstripe Bowl Will Be High-Scoring Affair

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

If you love points and high-scoring in a college football bowl game, the Pinstripe Bowl on December 29 is for you as the 7-5 Syracuse Orange face the 7-5 West Virginia Mountaineers at 3:15 p.m. Eastern Time at Yankee Stadium in New York. These two teams could easily score over 90 points between the two of them on a cold day where snow is in the forecast. This is not the game to go take a ten-minute break from the television or you may miss two or three touchdowns.

The Orange is averaging 38 points a game while West Virginia had a stretch early in the season where they were averaging 53 points a game. It is the kind of game where the last team to have the ball could win the game. There will be a ton of passing as well but watch out for the Mountaineers’ running game that could surprise and make life miserable for the Orange. If Syracuse can’t stop the run, West Virginia will make this a runaway.

Syracuse will have four players either suspended for the game or parts of it which hurts their chances against a powerful offense. This is the best game before New Year’s Day without any doubt. I’ll take West Virginia 52-45 in an entertaining game that will feature over 1,000 yards of total offense. The fans that fill Yankee Stadium will definitely get a treat and those watching at home hopefully will be ready for an offensive slugfest. These are the games that make college football bowl season what it is.
