The Russell Athletic Bowl was a Bowl Game to Forget
Yesterday evening, I might have watched perhaps one of the worst bowl games in history with the Russell Athletic Bowl where the Virgina Tech Hokies took on the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights. The game was 13-10 that ended in a single overtime, mercifully.
Logan Thomas (pictured above), Virginia Tech’s quarterback who was slated as maybe a first round pick at the beginning of the season, however he looked atrocious last night to say the least with only 193 yards on 39 passing attempts. He wasn’t even the worst quarterback of the game, Rutgers’ quarterback Gary Nova (pictured below) made me wonder if his backup could he actually be worse after throwing only 129 yards on 40 attempts. This actually might one of the worst football games regardless of level and I’ve been in attendance for at least one other train wreck game.
It wasn’t even the rain storm in Orlando that hit mid way through the game, nor was it awesome defense by both teams, it was simply inept offense, no matter if it was the run or the pass. This game has became the epitome of having too many bowl games every year in my mind and a tournament would be amazing for the sport, as every other level of college football has one, so why the heck not the Football Bowl Subdivision?
