Rose Bowl Will Be Runaway In Pasadena

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

There are few college football bowl games that are a must-watch for me each year. The biggest one would be the Rose Bowl which has the 8-5 Wisconsin Badgers facing the 11-2 Stanford Cardinal this year at 5 p.m. Eastern in Pasadena. Wisconsin really has no business being in this game with five losses and Stanford should prove that to them.

The Cardinal has a strong running game just like the Badgers and will run until Wisconsin finds a way to stop them. Wisconsin has to have a game like they did in the Big Ten Championship game and find a way to rush for over 250 yards to stand any chance in this contest. With two running teams like these, it will be important to stay close to your television as this game will go quick. It is also a battle between two quarterbacks who will have a combined ten starts between them so the team that runs the ball best will win this game.

Wisconsin could be motivated by having former coach Barry Alvarez on the sidelines just one final time after Bret Bielema’s departure but I see the Stanford running game being too much for the Badgers on defense and will lead to a Stanford victory. I’ll take Stanford 27-20 to win the Grand Daddy of them all. It is a great battle between two storied programs but one where Stanford should just be too much as Wisconsin has had trouble beating high-quality competition on a consistent basis this season. It will be a great day to be a Stanford Cardinal on New Year’s Day.
