Florida State Seminoles Cruise to a Snoozer Win in the Discover Orange Bowl
It seems the architects of the Discover Orange Bowl got exactly what they were looking for…
It was clear from the start the only one who cared about being in this game was the Northern Illinois Huskies.
Even ESPN couldn’t persuade any A-Lister to call this game. Seriously, who the heck was this rag tag crew. They clearly didn’t help the fact most of the nation was flipping channels.
And let’s not even talk about the middle school officiating crew that called the game.
This tweet pretty much summed up Twitter‘s response to this BCS masterpiece…

But give the 12th-ranked Florida State Seminoles a lot of credit…
The ‘Noles and ACC Football had a lot to lose in this game tonight. Way more than anyone would ever admit to if asked.
FSU, who played in the first three BCS National Championship Games and went 1-2, have been 1-5 since in BCS Bowl Games and were 0-4 in the Orange Bowl.
Despite a heck of an effort by the Huskies to continue the misery in Tallahassee, the Seminoles did what a big-boy football program should do on the biggest of stages…
Pound the lesser team and have them worn out by the fourth quarter…
And that is exactly what E.J. Manuel (who became only the second QB in history to win four straight bowl games), Lonnie Pryor (who won the Orange Bowl MVP) and the entire Seminole defense did.
You can’t fault Jordan Lynch, though, with his confident rant prior to the game. He is the leader of the biggest underdog the BCS has every seen. The guy is a winner and is everything to the Huskies. Lynch had to rally his teammates and get them to believe they had a shot.
That is all fine and dandy until the speed and athleticism of a Top-five defense and offense punches you square in the mouth.
So let’s just say as fans of College Football, we all forgive you makers of the 2013 Edition of the Orange Bowl…
Just don’t let it happen again…
But thank you for letting the ACC wrap up a solid 4-2 mark this Bowl Season.
Now let’s hurry up and get August here and see if the ACC can continue this momentum.
