Kent State Golden Flashes Looking Good For Bowl

The final game on the college football bowl season that isn’t a Bowl Championship Series game comes on Jan. 6 with the Bowl between the 11-2 Kent State Golden Flashes and the 9-3 Arkansas State Red Wolves at 9 p.m. Eastern in Mobile, Ala. While this isn’t a high-profile game, it is one that will bring a ton of excitement as Kent State makes their first bowl appearance in 40 years. I think this will become a high-scoring affair on a Sunday night.

Kent State has never won a bowl game but did break a school record this season with 11 wins and was ranked in the top-20 late in the season before losing the Mid-American Conference title game. Kent State can run the ball very well and if the Red Wolves can’t slow down the Golden Flashes’ running game, it is going to look real similar to the team’s loss last year in this same game. Arkansas State has a high-powered offense that can put up points in bunches with a good passing game. It is likely both teams finish with more than 35 points in this game.

Kent State is on a mission with this game and I don’t feel that they will be stopped with that. I’ll take Kent State 45-41 in an entertaining game to finish the weekend. Arkansas State is very talented but just won’t have the defense to slow down the Golden Flashes. Kent State fans and alumni should be able to finally celebrate a bowl victory, which has been a very long time coming.
