College Football Needs More Recruits Like Carl Lawson

Well…

The world is only seven days away from one of the worst days of the year.

A day when adults lose their mind over a bunch of teenagers who pose for the camera.

And to say “pose” is an understatement…

Yes folks, College Football’s National Signing Day is Wednesday, February 6…

IF you don’t know or have never watched, it is an absolute circus as these talented young men shut down their high school, place 10 college hats in front of them and make their big announcement like an episode of Buckwild on MTV.

To be honest, it’s demeaning and pathetic on so many different levels.

But there is hope…

And the hope lies in one Carl Lawson, Jr.

Lawson is a Five-Star Defensive End who is listed as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Georgia overall and at his position and listed as fourth nationally.

In other words, the 6-2, 254-pound talent from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia who runs a 4.7 40-yard-dash and has a 33-inch vertical leap is a big deal…

The only player in the state above him shares the same position and goes by the name of Robert Nkemdiche

But while Nkemdiche’s sits in front of every TV camera on the face of the earth while his dad, Dr. Sunday Nkemdiche officially signs his offer to Medical Residency Placement under the table, Lawson will be handling his decision in a much different way…

The old school way…

Instead of forcing the world to stop for him, Lawson announced today that he will personally call the school he chooses and let them know he has accepted and signed their letter of intent and is sending the document back to them at this time.

He will hang up the phone with his new school and new coach and will next call the other two or three schools he did not select and tell them his decision and thank them for their interest.

That is special folks!

Words cannot describe the level of character and confidence it takes out of a 17-year-old kid to have that kind of respect to personally speak with the winner and the losers of his academic and athletic talents that day.

So in this crazy thing we call College Recruiting, you have someone to root for…

Especially if you are a fan of the Auburn Tigers, Clemson Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels or Tennessee Volunteers.

Good luck, because who ever Lawson chooses is getting one special player indeed.
