College Football Fans Have Long Wait Ahead

There is a major lull right now for fans of football with nearly seven months until the beginning of the college football season. I’m sure there are already people who want the season to get underway right now but obviously that’s not going to happen. There are going to be some very interesting storylines to me in the final year of the Bowl Championship Series.

The biggest one right away would be if the Southeastern Conference goes out and wins their eighth straight BCS title. The talent level in the SEC is leaps and bounds better than any other conference right now and it is going to take a lot for any team to defeat a SEC school. The logical school would be the Ohio State Buckeyes, who went undefeated this past season but couldn’t play in a bowl game due to NCAA sanctions. I honestly can’t think of another team outside of the SEC who can compete at this point but who knows who can surprise.

Also, I think fans should be watching for any more bubble busting teams making it into the BCS. It was obvious by the numbers what happened this year and while the Northern Illinois Huskies played a decent game, they got pretty lucky that they didn’t get run over from the opening whistle. I don’t see another team making that kind of run this coming year. There will always be that team that comes out of the blue and surprises everyone but seven months out, it may just be Northern Illinois again. It will be year to remember no matter what with the BCS finally ending.
