The Auburn Tigers are shaping up to be one of the biggest surprises of National Signing Day after Five-Star defensive tackle Montravious Adams announced he will be taking his talents to the plains of Auburn, Alabama.
Many thought Adams was a lock for the University of Georgia, but things changed quickly after the Tigers called Georgia’s Recruiting Coordinator Rodney Garner back home to Auburn a few weeks ago. This proved to be a huge blow in Athens, Georgia for the services of Adams who was personally recruited by Garner during his entire career at Dooley County High School.
“It was based on my family,” Adams said. “I think Auburn is the best place for me. I love the coaches there and the players there. Auburn was already a team that I liked and when the coaches got fired I decided to give them a second chance.”
Auburn now has three guys on the defensive line who could be one of the best in school history, and this is one of many that will hurt the Dawgs this recruiting season with the loss of Garner to Auburn.
It was a tough choice for the 6-3, 290 machine who was impressed with the class of his other three choices especially Clemson’s Robbie Caldwell.
But in the end, Adams chose his connection with Garner, Auburn and the fact he would become teammates with fellow stud Carl Lawson who committed to the Tigers this past weekend. Adams and Lawson were roommates at both the Rising Senior Game last year and this years Under Armour Game.
That’s one heck of a defensive line Auburn has lined up with these two freshmen…
One that could flat out dominate the SEC quickly…
And you know that is making first year head coach Gus Malzahn one happy man.
