Austin Golson (Prattville, Al., Prattville) decommitted from Florida State last week and is the latest member of the impressive class being put together at Ole Miss.

The 6-6 285-pound Golson visited Ole Miss last weekend along with fellow top offensive tackle recruit Laremy Tunsil, the two top linemen in the 2013 class give Hugh Freeze and the Rebels bookends along the offensive line for the next three to four years in Oxford, Ms.

Golson’s decision to decommit from Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles is a bit of a surprise considering he has been committed to the program since the start of the 2011 season when Golson was just a sophomore. Now that he is more experienced about the whole recruiting process his decision about where he wants to play and go to school is different than what he thought as a 16-year old kid.

Florida State has now seen Denver Kirkland (Miami, Fl., Booker T. Washington) and now Golson reject the program that was seen as the front-runner for months, and in the case of Golson for a couple years and leaves Jimbo Fisher’s program thin along the offensive line.

At Ole Miss, Golson will compete for a starting position at either tackle position as a true freshman and help keep quarterback Bo Wallace upright in the pocket and open up holes for a loaded backfield that features four incoming freshman in addition to Jeff Scott who returns to the Rebel backfield.

Something must be in the water at Oxford, because all it took was one trip to Ole Miss to flip him from the school he was committed to since his junior season. Hugh Freeze is a magician.
