The West Virginia Mountaineers have landed their man!

Fans, coaches, players and anyone else involved with WVU can breathe easy now as Shelton Gibson, verbal commit to WVU, and most anticipated recruit of the 2013 class for the Mountaineers, has signed his letter of interest and will fax it to the school later this afternoon.

This is huge! This is what WVU wanted. Gibson has the potential to become WVU’s next offensive star. His speed is uncanny, his agility is ridiculous and if he lives up to his potential he could start immediately for the Mountaineers, who will be replacing Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, two receivers who left for the 2013 NFL Draft.

WVU will need Gibson to step up and lead the team for years to come.

However, it’s not all good news for the Mountaineers. While the team brought Gibson in, his partner in crime, Tyler Boyd officially signed his LOI with the Pittsburgh Panthers. It was a fat chance for WVU to land both, but from the looks of Gibson’s Twitter page, it looked as though it could have been a possibility. Nonetheless, WVU will be more than satisfied with Gibson.

Gibson ran a 4.42 second forty yard dash, and had a high school GPA of 3.1 according to Rivals.

This will greatly improve the Mountaineers’ already strong recruiting ranking for the 2013 season. Expect big things from WVU in years to come. It may not be 2013, but if these players can develop into their full potential, WVU could be contenders in the near future.
