The Texas A&M Aggies got some awful news this afternoon when 4-star athlete Derrick Griffin announced via his Twitter account he would be de-committing from the Aggies and instead heading to the University of Miami in 2013.
LIKE LEBRON SAID IMMA TAKE MY TALENT TO SOUTH BEACH!!! THE U!!!!

Griffin was one of Kevin Sumlin‘s top recruits for the 2013 class and was committed since January of 2012, but as signing day drew near it became clear Griffin’s grades weren’t going to be up to par for him to sign a letter of intent. The plan was for him to wait, get his grades in order and sign prior to the deadline for college basketball recruits. This loophole was expected to be the answer.
Instead, Griffin decided to take the easy way out rather than improve his grades to the point that A&M could admit him. Real nice. While I wish him the best and I certainly can’t blame him for wanting to go to Miami rather than attend a JUCO, he’s making a poor decision. My obvious Texas A&M bias aside, he’s making the conscious decision to go to a program that’s in shambles and no where near the talent level A&M is right now. I seriously doubt Miami is going to be in national title contention any time soon.
Who would you rather have throwing you the ball, Heisman winner Johnny Manziel or Stephen Morris? Easy decision.
