Nkemdiche Hype Machine Gearing Up
Is anyone as ready for the Nkemdiche craze as I am? It’s been a few weeks since National Signing Day 2013, but Ole Miss Rebels fans have to still be up in the sky somewhere on cloud nine. I’ll bet Robert and Denzel’s mother must be one proud lady as well. For those who don’t follow college football that closely, Robert Nkemdiche, the gem of this year’s signing day committed to Ole Miss and will play along side of his older brother Denzel Nkemdiche next season.
With Denzel at Linebacker and Robert at Defensive End, the Runnin’ Rebels fans will be in for a defensive melee every Saturday featuring the two brothers. I wonder what nicknames and terms fans will get into? Their last name doesn’t really roll off of the tongue as nicely as “Lin-sanity” or other famous athletes trademarked slogans.
You just got “Nkemdiche’d!” Maybe I’ll leave that up to the fans and see what sticks. Either way, the two brothers should aid Ole Miss with their struggles in the powerhouse of a conference that is the SEC. The Rebels finished 5th in the West division of the conference last season. They will need all the help they can get against their rival and national champion, Alabama Crimson Tide.
In the meantime, Denzel can get his younger brother acquainted with how things go in Oxford, Mississippi. Whether or not the brothers know it, the hype machine is coming to Ole Miss. Are they ready? I know I am.
