The Impact On LSU If Les Miles’ Rumored Affair Is True
LSU‘s football coach, Les Miles, is rumored to have been involved in an affair with a student at LSU. This is incredibly crazy. If this rumor happens to be true, the impact on LSU football is huge. More rumors are going around that Miles will be stepping down Monday. Nothing is confirmed yet, it is all just speculation.

For a second, let’s backtrack to last year. It was around this time that former Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Bobby Petrino stepped down. Petrino had been in a similar situation, except his was with a female staffer in the Athletic Department. The impact on the Razorbacks this season was tremendous. Let’s face it, the Razorbacks were awful compared to the past few years. Arkansas finished with a 4-8 record last season. Petrino was hired by Western Kentucky University this offseason.
Okay, back to reality. As a fan of college football, I wouldn’t wish this on my biggest rival’s university. This is an all around horrible situation for LSU, not just its football program, but the entire university in general. Miles is easily a top-10 coach in college football–if not a top-five coach. Yes, he makes some questionable calls, but he wins games. If this rumor is true, the biggest backlash will involve recruits and young players on this team. In fact, if this does end up being true, it wouldn’t be a surprise if many players jumped ship to in-conference rival Alabama.
LSU’s football team has been one of the best teams in the entire country for the past decade. This type of situation, if found to be true, could not only wreck Miles and his legacy, but the entire program at LSU. Landing five-star recruits becomes a much harder thing to do if you don’t have your prestigious coach around. That is quite possibly the biggest impact this could have on LSU’s football team. As for the entire school, that is a different for a different time.
The biggest thing we must remember is that this entire thing is rumor. Nothing is set in stone yet–so keep tight to see what happens over the next 24-48 hours.
