According to kstatesports.com, the Kansas State Wildcats‘ season opener has been moved to Friday, August 30, and will be broadcast on the new Fox Sports 1 Network, as a part of the network’s debut.

Kansas State will face off against the North Dakota State Bison, the two-time defending champions at the FCS level. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.

The Bison recently won their second FCS championship with a 39-13 victory over Sam Houston State in Frisco, Texas. They also defeated Sam Houston State for their first championship in January 2012, 17-6. The Bison and junior quarterback Brock Jensen are poised for a three-peat as they face only one other out of conference foe (Delaware State) before heading into Missouri Valley Conference play.

NDSU isn’t a stranger to Big 12 foes: they’ve faced Iowa State and Kansas in recent years, and defeated the Jayhawks 6-3 when they faced off in Lawrence in 2010.

While this shouldn’t be a difficult game for the Wildcats to win, Kansas State fans should not overlook the Bison. After all, the new Wildcat quarterback, whoever that may be, will be making his first career start at the FBS level. Kansas State is looking to kick off their season the right way as they begin the defense of their Big 12 championship from a season ago.

As for Fox Sports 1, the new channel will debut on Saturday, August 17, in over 90 million homes across the country. According to Fox’s press release, the channel will broadcast a variety of events including college basketball, college football, NASCAR and weekly UFC fights on Wednesday nights. Additionally, the channel will have regular studio programming, live news updates, and a “network agnostic” sports event schedule.
