5-Star LB Clifton Garrett Will Love His Visit to Ole Miss this Weekend
A couple months ago, Ole Miss was the host to a number of the top recruits in the country. This weekend, Oxford, Ms will once again be the home to one of the nation’s top recruits in the class of 2014 when Clifton Garrett (Plainfield, Il. Plainfield North) comes to town.
The 5-star linebacker is ranked as the No. 2 outside linebacker recruit according to 247Sports and at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, he already has the size to play in the SEC.
Ole Miss famously loaded up this year and finished with a top-five recruiting class, but one position they didn’t load up in was at linebacker, and Garrett is no doubt one of players ranked highest on Hugh Freeze’s recruiting board.
The Rebels had success recruiting the state of Illinois in each of the last two seasons, when they secured commitments from Anthony Standifer in 2012 and Laquon Treadwell, the nation’s top receiver, in 2013. This weekend’s visit will go a long way towards determining if Garrett will be the second top-ranked player in Illinois to head to the Grove in as many years.
Garrett has two other SEC schools trying to chase him down like he does opposing running backs, and Ohio State is believed to be his favorite at the moment. But as we said this past winter — once recruits get to Oxford, everything is subject to change.

I have no doubt in my mind that Rebel Nation will roll out the red carpet for Garrett like they did for Robert Nkemdiche, Treadwell and Laremy Tunsil. They will do their best to make Garrett feel like he’s family and have their school stand out above the rest.
