Fort Worth All Saints quarterback Foster Sawyer has been garnering a lot of interest lately. The 3-star recruit has six D-1 offers to date but has seemingly narrowed his choices down to three schools, including two in the Big 12.

TCU, Oklahoma State and Alabama are the clear frontrunners for Sawyer’s services, according to recruiting expert Wescott Eberts.

Oklahoma State seems like the leader at this point, simply due to their future quarterback situation. They did not take a quarterback in their 2013 class, and by the time Sawyer would be on campus ready to play J.W. Walsh and Wes Lunt will both be seniors.

Meanwhile TCU took Zach Allen, a 3-star quarterback out of Temple, Texas, in their 2013 class and have already accepted the commitment of Grayson Muehlstein, a 3-star prospect from Decatur, Texas. As Eberts points out, it’s somewhat odd that TCU would accept Muehlstein’s commitment before knowing where Sawyer stood, but I’m not one to question Gary Patterson and his staff.

Of course after what happened last season, with Casey Pachall leaving the team after four games, I can see why Patterson may want two viable quarterback options at all times moving forward.

Alabama is also looking at a quarterback log-jam, as they took not one, but two quarterbacks in the 2013 class. Cooper Bateman and Parker McLeod stand between Sawyer and the starting gig at ‘Bama, and while competition isn’t a deterrent for most elite quarterback recruits the allure of early playing time is always a big draw. It seems at this point that Sawyer’s best opportunity for that would be at Oklahoma State.

Sawyer picked up offers from the Frogs, Cowboys and Tide all within the last few weeks, and also has offers from Missouri, UCLA and SMU.  Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor and Texas Tech have also shown interest in the 6-foot-5 recruit, but have not extended offers at this time.
