Rushel Shell Transfer Rumors Begin to Surface

In what would be a tremendous blow to the Pittsburgh Panthers offense, multiple reports out of the Pittsburgh area are that starting running back Rushel Shell has notified the program of his intent to transfer. Also, his rumored destination may not come as a surprise to many neither.

The projected starting back for the Panthers leaving would leave a huge hole in the offense. With a new quarterback eventually settling in in Pittsburgh, Shell was expected to be the tone-setter on the offensive side of the ball. Leading the charge into their first season in the ACC, Shell’s talents when carrying the football would greatly help keep the Panthers’ offense steady as the new passing game begins to develop. Now, that may not be the case.

Also, in a twist that maybe a lot of people should see coming, it’s also being spoken that Shell may indeed end up with the man whom recruited him to the Steel City in the first place. That man would be none other than current Arizona State Sun Devils head coach, and former one-and-done Pitt head man, Todd Graham. Should this actually wind up being the case, I would highly suggest that Graham never set foot in the city of Pittsburgh ever again, maybe go so far as to not enter the state of Pennsylvania.

With Shell being from the Pittsburgh area, as well as having twin daughters to care for, the transfer situation seems a bit odd, if true.

Shell did not show up for practice on Tuesday and head coach Paul Chryst did not give a timetable for his return, leading many to begin the speculation that the running back may be on his way out.
