Urban Meyer is on the prowl once again. The second-year Ohio State Buckeye coach has reached out to former Michigan State wide receiver recruit Drake Harris, and the recruit has agreed to unofficially visit the Buckeyes on April 12.
This would be a huge addition to what looks to be an already-loaded 2014 recruiting class. Harris was opening the eyes of college programs everywhere with his extreme talent and eye-popping numbers. The high school junior caught 91 passes for 2,015 yards and 25 touchdowns.
These are not average numbers for a four-star recruit. In fact, the receiver is no longer listed as a four-star recruit by many sites, including 247Sports, as ratings have recently changed and the young recruit is now listed as a coveted five-star player.
Meyer is not the only coach being graced with the budding star’s presence next weekend as Harris is due to visit the Michigan Wolverines for their spring game the following day.
As Spartan fans read this, they are cringing and thinking terrible thoughts about the top talent that was once their own. Just months ago, Harris was telling people about how he was still a Spartan and remain as such. Then he opened up his recruitment, but remained committed to Michigan State.
Then, a month ago, he decommitted from Michigan State and started visiting any and all schools to shoot him a glare of interest.
Whomever ends up with the young receiver from Grand Rapids, Mich., knows that they are getting a guy that could be the fixture of an offense and take a team to the next level. Both Michigan and Ohio State are hoping next weekend wins him over.
