Ole Miss Hosting Recruit Nyles Morgan for Rebels Spring Game
Ole Miss is trying to reel in another top recruit from the same high school that produced incoming freshman sensation Laquon Treadwell and his former teammate Nyles Morgan (Crete, Il. Crete-Monee) will be accompanying him to Oxford this weekend for the Rebel’s spring game.
Heading out for Ole Miss tomorrow!!

Morgan is a four-star inside linebacker who 247Sports.com ranks as the No. 4 player at the position and is the second ranked player in the state behind fellow Ole Miss target, Clifton Garrett. Can you imagine a linebacker core led by Garrett and Morgan? That would be a devastating duo that would form a supremely talented defense with defensive end Robert Nkemdiche and safety Tony Conner.
First things first though, Morgan is making his first trip to Ole Miss and currently holds more than 30 offers from programs all across the nation from Miami to Notre Dame to USC. He holds offers from seven other SEC programs with Florida and Vanderbilt believed to be among his early favorites that also include Michigan State. However, I think Ole Miss has the edge because of Treadwell and fellow Crete-Monee alum Anthony Standifer who will be a sophomore defensive back this year.
When I watched Crete-Monee last year en route to their state championship, Treadwell was the player who everyone knew about as the top ranked wide receiver, but Morgan made his presence known as well. At 6-3, 228-pounds he already is bigger than some collegiate linebackers and has the speed, athleticism, power and instincts to develop into a potential star.
Could that star develop in Oxford with his fellow high school teammates?
This weekend will go a long way in determining if the pipeline from Crete to Oxford will continue with Morgan. With Treadwell in his ear the whole time, I’m thinking the Rebels have an enormous advantage when it comes to landing the impressive inside linebacker.
