Honey Badger Award for Extracurricular Excellence: Week 18
The Honey Badger Award for Extracurricular Excellence race for Week 18 of the 2013 off-season was a little more subdued than recent weeks have been, but one of the two incidents was certainly a troubling one.
Columbia University and Montana University grace our board this week for two different extracurricular activities, one we’re used to and another that’s shocking no matter its context.
Columbia defensive lineman Chad Washington was arrested earlier in the week for allegedly following an Asian male Columbia student from his dorm room, threatening him with physical abuse and racial slurs. New details have emerged that the Asian student stood up for two women that Washington and his teammates were harassing which kicked off the incident.
Details of Washington’s punishment and status as a Columbia student are both still pending. Racism is racism folks.
The second incident of the week involves Montana Grizzlies redshirt freshman lineman William “Bo” Harris who was arrested for a misdemeanor drunk driving charge after being pulled over for going 45 in a 25 mile per hour zone. Yawn.
